Le Christ après la flagellation

Pray the sorrowful mysteries of the rosary with baroque art.

I: What have we done.

II: He was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities

III: Gaze, upon the aftermath of our sin. The flesh we have stripped from his bones. The same flesh we partake of every Sunday.

IV: The same Christ we welcomed with palm leaves and Hosanna, now left with nothing, but the purple robe we dressed Him in.

V: Yet, our Lord crawls forth from the pillar to embrace the little we have to offer him, this robe of mockery we threw over Him in cruelty.

VI: Every drop of blood that falls onto this robe, speaks of a love that sanctifies our broken nature.

VII: From the very wounds we inflicted, now pour forth the blood of our salvation.

VIII: Call to mind the brokenness in your life. Allow the precious blood of Jesus to stain the fabric of your reality.

IX: It was our pain that he bore, our sufferings he endured. We thought of him as stricken, struck down by God and afflicted.

X: Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. He bore the punishment that makes us whole, and with his stripes we are healed.
